Summer Camp Counselor 27.5–35 hours per week Summer Camp Boston, MA (In-person) $412–$550 per week Support campers ages 3–15 across our programs. Help lead engaging activities, ensure safety, and bring energy to small groups throughout the day.

Hill House seeks responsible, collaborative, and upbeat individuals who enjoy working with children ranging from 3 to 15 years between our various programs. Counselors ensure the safety of campers at all times, closely supervise and actively participate with campers during all aspects of the day, assist in planning and leading activities, help walk campers through the streets to the park or fields, engage with campers at the splash pad—all while keeping up the enthusiasm of 5–10 campers in a group.

Open Counselor Positions

  • Kiddie Kamp Counselor
    • Age group: 3–5-year-olds
    • Schedule: 27.5 hours/week
    • Hours: 8:00 AM–1:30 PM, Monday–Friday
  • Day Camp Counselor
    • Age group: 5–12-year-olds
    • Schedule: 35 hours/week
    • Hours: 7.5-hour shifts between 8:00 AM–5:30 PM, Monday–Friday
  • Leader in Training (LIT) Counselor
    • Age group: 13–15-year-olds
    • Schedule: 35 hours/week
    • Hours: 9:00 AM–4:30 PM, Monday–Friday

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ensure the safety of campers by maintaining supervision and actively participating and leading activities.
  • Identify and meet campers’ individual needs; seek assistance when necessary.
  • Set a good example for campers by maintaining a good attitude and positive relationship with campers, fellow counselors, and families.
  • Promote a healthy, safe, supportive and exciting camp environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Prior experience at camp a plus.
  • Strong desire and proven ability to work with children in a camp setting; ability to relate to campers and work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to lead activities and supervise groups of 4–10 campers in your group.
  • Strong character including but not limited to a sense of humor, enthusiasm, maturity and patience.

Lead Athletics Instructor Full-time Programs Boston, MA (In-person) $35,000–$38,000/yr Coach, coordinate, and lead youth sports programs—support leagues, clinics, staff training, and on-site operations to deliver great family experiences.

The Lead Athletics Instructor plays a key role in delivering and supporting Hill House’s youth sports programs. This hands-on position combines coaching, program coordination, and on-site leadership to ensure that children and families have a positive, safe, and engaging experience. The Instructor will lead practices, clinics, and game days; support seasonal leagues; assist with staff training; and help manage equipment, facilities, and administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in athletics, youth sports, recreation, or related fields.
  • Experience supervising or coordinating staff, volunteers, or teams.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during peak seasons.
  • Ability to lift 25–30 lbs. and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and willingness to learn new software systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education, recreation management, education, youth development, or related field.
  • Experience coaching and officiating multiple youth sports.
  • Familiarity with non-profit or community-based programming.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
